So you’ve said “yes,” showed off your engagement ring, and now I’m sure you’re scrolling through your various wedding inspired Pinterest boards that’ll help your dream day become a reality. Aside from choosing color schemes, creating your invite list, researching your wedding vendors, and of course saying yes to the perfect dress– you’ve got to create your wedding registry! Online wedding registries are becoming the norm for today’s modern couples and make registering even easier. Here are some foolproof tips for setting up your registry and some helpful tips for your guests as well. Happy wedding planning!
#1: Choose your platform
There are so many registries to choose from, so be sure to do your research. What are you and your significant other looking for from a registry? Almost everything is online these days which makes it super easy for friends and family to stay connected. Zola for example offers an entire suite of wedding tools so you can have you website, checklist, and registry all in one!
#2: Register early
It’s likely you’ll be having guests from various locations, so be sure to consider that when creating your registry. Are all the guests invited able to attend the wedding? Or maybe they’re only able to come to the bridal shower. With this in mind, creating your registry should be one of the first things you do before creating your website and sending out invites. The sooner your registry is available, your guests will be able to purchase your favorite gifts before the shower, or ship them to you if they can’t attend.
#3: Consider every guest
The relationships between the couple and the guests will vary, so choose gifts at various price points. This way, everyone will be able to contribute at a price they’re comfortable with. Zola also offers the option to contribute to group gifts, so even if there’s something on the registry they can’t afford on their own, they will still be able to gift something meaningful.
BONUS TIP: Speaking of the guests, we didn’t forget about you! Be sure to check out these helpful tips for gift giving etiquette. And don’t forget, if tangible gift giving isn’t your strong suit, a check is always well received.
#4: Decide on your couple style
I know you’re excited, however, before you start adding to your wedding registry be sure to discuss what your couple style will be. The registry should be a perfect balance of both your personalities and styles. Are the two of you more modern, vintage, or minimalist? Are you thrill seekers, travelers, or maybe cooking connoisseurs? Knowing this will definitely help streamline the registry process, and you can even register for some fun experiences you’ll both enjoy! #CoupleGoals
#5: Share your registry
The last and most important step is to share your registry! It’s recommended to share the registry on your wedding website, save the dates, and invitations. You’ve worked hard on that registry, it’d be a waste if no one knew it existed! Your friends and family can’t wait to celebrate the big day with you and definitely don’t want to show up empty handed.
