Grant contacted me a few weeks before his October visit Orlando from Dallas! He was planning to propose to his girlfriend Liz during his Central Florida trip and was looking for a nice spot that would also make sense for them to visit while they were in town. Although they were planning to visit Universal Studios during their trip, he didn’t necessarily want a ‘theme park’ vibe so we talked at length about Lake Eola and I sent him over some sample images of photos I had taken there in the past. He decided it would be the perfect spot to pop the question. Unfortunately this was during the time that hurricane Irma came through and I was a bit concerned about hurricane damage, but luckily everything was back to normal pretty quickly around the downtown area.
When the day of the proposal finally came, I woke up to pouring rain and 100% chance of rain in the forecast. If you’re a Florida local, you know that it usually doesn’t rain here in the mornings. We have more afternoon showers than anything and they usually tend to come and go rather quickly. Needless to say I was a bit concerned about the weather, but Grant and I were in close contact all day. He decided that the show must go on, rain or shine– and I was totally on board!
So I packed up my camera as well as my umbrella and a few plastic bags hoping for the best, yet prepared for the worst. We were super lucky that even amongst a few light drizzles prior, the rain totally held up for the proposal itself! Grant found the perfect quiet spot next to the lake by the amphitheater to pop the question– and Liz said YES! She was totally surprised and never even spotted me tucked away behind a trash can. :))) Afterwards, we took the opportunity to grab a few officially engaged photos and they were off to dinner to celebrate!
I’m so happy I got the chance to capture this sweet proposal and I wish these two all the best in their wedding planning!!
