I met Jennifer & Mike last Spring in Orlando when they were visiting Disney. They contacted me to capture some magical engagement photos for them at Magic Kingdom and their session quickly turned into one of my most popular Disney shoots to date! A few months later they reached out to let me know they had set their wedding date and were interested in having me come out to Oklahoma City to capture their big day. I was so incredibly honored that they would even consider flying me out for such an important day! Several emails, phone calls and text messages later, our flights and hotel were officially booked and everything went off without a hitch.
We arrived to Oklahoma City on the Friday before their wedding where we visited their houses and talked about where we would capture everything. We also joined them at the church for their rehearsal and lastly had dinner that evening alongside their closest family and friends. Everyone truly treated us like part of the family and welcomed us with open arms!
On the big day my second photographer Jerzy and I arrived bright and early at the bride’s house to capture her getting ready. She wore her traditional Chinese attire and headpiece for the first part of the day which included having breakfast followed by the Chinese tea ceremony at her house and lastly the Vietnamese tea ceremony at the Groom’s house. We had a nice lunch break with their families and then headed to the church where the bride changed into her white dress for their Catholic wedding ceremony. After their beautiful ceremony we took the new Mr. & Mrs. and their wedding party out to Myriad Botanical Gardens for some fun portraits! The gardens were absolutely stunning and everyone really hung in there despite the crazy hot temps Oklahoma was having that day.
We finished up our 12-hour day at their Hy Palace reception where their guests enjoyed a delicious eight course meal, a live band and tons of fun moments alongside the bride & groom. It was truly an amazing day from start to finish and although it was probably the longest wedding we have ever photographed to date, I would do it all again in a heartbeat. It was such a blast– somehow I wasn’t even that tired at the end of it all! I can’t thank Jennifer & Mike enough for trusting us with their big crazy Asian wedding!! :)))) It was everything I could have hoped for and more.
P.S. Check out a little behind the scenes on my YouTube channel to see how we handle traveling out of state for weddings!
