Olivia & Omar | Orlando Maternity Photographer

Well this maternity photo shoot was one for the record books. Namely because– Omar is my brother! Yeah I know we don’t look alike, he looks like my dad and I look like my mom. :) But he’s my one and only sibling and what makes this crazier is that I was pretty much convinced he would never settle down and certainly could not have imagined him becoming a dad. Not that he wasn’t totally capable or that he wouldn’t make an awesome father.. it wasn’t that at all. He just wasn’t the “settle down” type. He was busy backpacking through Europe and enjoying that good bachelor life! That is, until Olivia came along a couple years ago. Suddenly my party-life bro was becoming a different guy with different values and new goals. Shocker!!! And when he and Liv announced they were expecting a baby I was OVER THE MOON elated!

I had been waiting for my daughter to finally have a real life cousin that she could grow up with and seeing as though she’s already in middle school I was starting to worry it wasn’t going to happen. Luckily, baby Sophia came along (as I predicted– that it would be a girl!) and we are now looking forward to sleepovers, makeup lessons and hair braiding in our future.

I’m such a proud auntie and it was truly a surreal moment to capture these maternity portraits for my brother and sister-in-law. Being a photographer is always a job that I value and take very seriously because I know I’m capturing moments that will last a lifetime.. but when you’re capturing those memories for your own family, now that is something special.
