Marley & Matt will be tying the know this fall at the Lake Mary Events Center and we couldn’t be more excited! I actually had the chance to meet this fun couple at another wedding where we did photography and videography for Marley’s twin sister. As the maid of honor, she got to watch me and the team work all day so needless to say I was thrilled when she reached out about booking us for her own wedding. Their family was truly the sweetest and it’s always great to show up to a wedding where you feel like you know a lot of the important guests. It adds a layer of instant comfort and familiarity which always helps us to do our best work!
This is the same reason I always recommend having an engagement photo shoot before the wedding day. I even include a complimentary session in most of my wedding collections for this reason. Even if you don’t have a specific use planned for the photos, it’s more about the experience than anything else. It’s like a trial run for your wedding where we can get all the awkwardness out, practice posing and get comfy in front of the camera. It also gives me an opportunity to get to know the couple without so many distractions and really get a feel for how they interact. Not to mention it helps them to see how I work as a photographer in order to build trust and comfortability. It truly makes a world of difference.
For their 30-minute mini shoot, the bride asked me for some recommendations for locations in Orlando that had lots of nature. She said she didn’t want anything that was too urban or had city vibes. We tossed around a few ideas and I sent over my top recommendations for engagement photos in Orlando and Leu Gardens really stood out to them. I love this location so much, but it used to be challenging because they closed before sunset. However I recently found out that on Thursdays in the summertime they have late entrance so it was perfect to catch golden hour. They also had a seasonal art exhibit going on as well and we got to use the beautiful butterfly sculpture for some photos at the end of the shoot which was just too pretty. Even though we only had a half hour together, I was able to deliver 121 total edited photos in their gallery! Here are a few of my faves that I thought were TOO good not to share. 😉
