Matt had been planning his perfect surprise proposal for several months! It included a surprise weekend trip to Disney World, reservations at the exclusive Grand Floridian Resort, character breakfast that morning and dinner reservations at the upscale Victoria & Alberts that night– and of course the moment when he would pop the question! Together we worked out the perfect plan as to where exactly he would propose and how it would all go down. He told me that Sam wouldn’t even know they were headed to Orlando until just a few days before their flight! He even went through the trouble find her a beautiful dress that he would pack without her knowledge for her to wear for the proposal.
He shared with me that he wanted the spot to be intimate because Sam didn’t want a big public proposal so I told him about the fountain at the Grand Floridian that I thought would be ideal! It’s in a more secluded part of the resort and it’s absolutely gorgeous for photos. I sent him birds eye view maps of the spot and he agreed that we would meet there at 5:30pm before their 7 o’clock dinner reservations. I arrived early making sure there were no tourists hogging the fountain while trying to look inconspicuous at the same time!
When they arrived at the fountain, Matt presented Sam with a gift he had made just for her. It was a 100-page book with reasons why he loved her and at the very end there was a page that said “Will you marry me?” He confessed that maybe he went overboard with such a big book so he decided to make her flip right to the back so he could pop the question!! Of course she said YES. :-) She was totally surprised! Afterward I took them on a little walking tour of this beautiful resort while we captured some official engagement photos for them. It was such a pleasure to have been there to capture this super special proposal for them both and I hope you enjoy a few of my favorite images.
