Daniel and Katie were visiting Orlando from out of town from Cape Coral for a mini Disney vacation! He decided this would be the perfect opportunity to pop the question and reached out to me a couple of months prior to start the proposal planning. We tossed around a few different ideas with his original plan being to have a caricature artist drawing him proposing! It was such a cute idea, but it was a tough one to plan out. There was no way to anticipate if the caricature artist would be there or would be available during the time he planned to propose. We also toyed with the idea of hiring an artist to come out just for them, but we were worried that could have potentially gotten us into trouble at Disney Springs for obvious reasons! So after a little research, Daniel decided to scrap that idea and come up with an alternate plan.
Since he works for the news and does video editing regularly, he decided to put his skills to good use! He created an adorable video with Disney movie clips in it just for Katie. The plan was to play the video for her on his phone before getting down on one knee. He even sent me the video in advance so I could see it. I was super impressed– it was really nicely done!
The next question was where the perfect location would be to do it because Disney Springs is usually pretty crowded and we definitely wanted to shoot close to sunset for the best natural lighting. Luckily he was able to scout it in advance and he found the perfect little quiet spot next to the water. He even sent me a map to the spot so I could easily find it on the day of the proposal. He was so on top of things!
On the day of the proposal the weather was perfect, the location was completely clear and everything went off without a hitch. Of course she said YES! He even got Katie a lovely princess tiara which she had been wanting to top things off. A few of her family members were also standing by to congratulate them. It was such a sweet and thoughtful proposal and I had such a great time capturing a handful of official engagement photos afterwards as well! Here are a few of my favorite images from the day. :)
