Orlando has an awesome community of creative professionals and wedding vendors that get together for a meet up every month for Tuesdays Together as part of the Rising Tide Society. The philosophy behind this incredible group is community over competition and the notion that a “rising tide lifts all boats”. In an industry that can often be very isolated and highly competitive, it’s such a refreshing feeling to be around people that genuinely want to life each other up. Even better is when we get opportunities like the one we had last Tuesday to bring our families and get together for an even bigger cause– feeding hungry children.
Feeding Children Everywhere, based out of Sanford, is a charity that empowers people to come together to assemble healthy meals for hungry children right here in Orlando and extending to countries around the world. Everyone worked together in an assembly line to package 15,000 meals in one night! We had so much fun laughing over lentils and packaging box after box of healthy meals. My 10-year old daughter joined me and we had the task of sealing and boxing the meals. She had such a blast– she was so in the zone and took her duties very seriously! As soon as we were done she quickly asked me when we would be back to volunteer again. :)
It was such an awesome experience and I highly encourage you to check them out and get involved!
